Ladder leaders Wests host Thirroul in this week’s Harrigan Premiership ‘Match of the Round’ at Parrish Park. The Devils took the two competition points on offer in Round 1 after their 16-12 come-from-behind win, with veteran Dane Chisholm crossing for the match-winner late in the game.

Peter McLeod’s charges suffered a setback in Round 2, losing to De La Salle, before firing back up with two consecutive wins.

Since their first-up loss, the Butchers have had solid wins over Collegians and Corrimal. The latter came after a drama-charged 16-all draw with Dapto, where they were again run down late after leading 10-0 at the break and 16-6 deep into the second half.

Corrimal will be out for revenge when they host De La Salle, who defeated them 36-10 in their first-round fixture. Meanwhile, Collegians will aim to halt Dapto’s momentum on Sunday afternoon after the Canaries shock win over De La last week.

The two sides played out a thriller in Round 1, with Collies getting away with the win after the scores were locked at 22-all going down to the wire.

The Lower Grades

In Harrigan Plate action on Saturday afternoon, the undefeated Devils host Thirroul in their return bout after their 30-18 victory in Round 1.

At Ziems Park, Corrimal and Helensburgh will both be keen for a win to keep abreast of the top four. The Tigers are coming off a bye but racked up 52 points against Dapto in their last start, while the Cougars are coming off three straight losses.

With three wins from three starts in their inaugural season, the Avondale Wombats, who take on the Canaries this week, can do no more. Only rain and an untimely bye last week have halted their early-season progress.

Still searching for their first win of the season, Collies host second-placed Berkeley in the final game of the round on Sunday afternoon.

The Harrigan Shield has a full schedule, with the undefeated Figtree taking on Wests in what looks to be the feature match of the round. The Wombats and Windang Sharks will do battle at Dandaloo Oval.

Elsewhere, the winless Cougars will be looking to cause an upset over the second-placed Avondale Greyhounds. The same goes for Northern Suburbs, who will host Berkeley on Sunday afternoon.
