Hampered by wet weather, Dapto and Thirroul shared the two Harrigan Premiership points on offer at Dapto Showground.
Elsewhere, Wests Devils returned to the winner’s circle with a victory over the Corrimal Cougars at a soggy Parrish Park.
Unfortunately, due to the conditions, Collegians and De La Salle couldn’t get on the field for their clash on Sunday afternoon.
The weekend wrap is brought to you by HAHN.
Dapto and Thirroul scored three tries apiece in their thrilling 16-all draw. The Canaries trailed the Butchers 10-0 at the break and 16-6 deep into the second stanza before mounting a late comeback, scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to level the score.
Skipper Troy Peiper missed a late conversion attempt, which would have given his side what appeared an unlikely win playing a man down on two occasions in the second half, with Joey Leilua and Tom Freebairn both spending time in the sin bin.
Butchers coach Jared Costello will be ruing the ‘one that got away’ after his side led for most of the game.
Wests Devils returned to their winning form, scoring five tries to one in their 30-6 victory over Corrimal. Former NRL player George Jennings played a pivotal role, crossing for a double for the visitors over an under-manned Cougars outfit.
Lower Grades Wrap-Up
Thirroul defeated Dapto 20-6 in the Harrigan Plate, while Wests 46 kept the Cougars scoreless, scoring 46 points of their own. In the sole Harrigan Shield contest, the Devils defeated the Cougars 24-6.
All postponed Round 3 games are to be rescheduled to a date to be advised.
